It has been a great 2007, the best of my life. No, I did not make more money. No, I did not buy a bigger house. No, my health is not very good. As a matter of fact I am in more pain now than I have ever been.
So how can it be the best year you may ask? It was my best year in understanding in the evangel, opportunity for the evangel, and friendships that have been made because of the evangel.
The Lord opened my eyes to so many things in the sacred scriptures. Getting a better grasp on Paul, freedom from sin, the ultimate salvation of all and many other things which the holy spirit teaches in the WORDS of the scriptures.
I was granted the opportunity to meet with others who believe in this message. I was on my own for a while and it was great to meet my fellow laborers in the evangel. This took place in Willard Ohio. I was invited by Martin Zender to speak at his conference. This was the beginning of the rest of my life. Many of you know Martin and I had some great opportunities over the summer to proclaim the evangel over the largest "Christian" radio station in Chicago. Many of you know the results of that effort and how we were "booted off" WYLL.
But the results of that radio program were not in vain. Through that program, we met Jason and Kristen Schmidt, John Wanda, Joe, Joe Jr, YaYa, Jim and Leslie, Josh and Courtney and many others. We spent many summer nights on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and any other day possible poring over the scriptures, many of those scripture romps went past 2AM! What a delight to see people come to enjoy freedom, after all, it is for freedom Christ frees us. Why not enjoy it!
As Martin Zender was touring he made his way to northern Michigan and was heading south, I was coming from Chicago heading north, and we both converged on Ludington Michigan. General Patton could not have planned a better attack. Of course, our weapons were a little different than Goerge's! We spent four excellent days in Ludington Michigan with Lars, Sarah, Jonathan, Jacob, Jarod, at the Inn at Ludington. Many came to hear Martin speak. The friendships made there will last a lifetime. Lars and Sarah now have a radio program in which they are teaching the eons, freedom from sin, the salvation of all and many other topics. Think of the fruit! CHRIST IS WORTH IT! CHRIST IS WORTH EVERY EFFORT!
Martin and I went there again in November, the weekend before Christmas. We had another great weekend of Scripture and meeting people from all over. One couple came from Florida! (No, they came to see family, they did not come all that way for Martin or me.)
This month was the icing on the cake of 2007. First of all, we learned that my wife is pregnant with our fourth child. Then, the group from Ludington came to our home in Chicago, also, Jean Douglas came here from Georgia. We had at least 8-12 people stay in our home each night for 7 days straight! From December 27-January 3rd this house was sure lively. We covered the entire book of Philippians over the week and had a lot of fun singing Karaoke. We sang in the new year together.
Whats in 2008? I don't know. But we start where we left off. Our eyes fixed on things above and desiring to be useful to our Lord down here as we live looking for that happy expectation. Thank you Father for such a great year. Brethren pray for us.
